Thoughts

In denial. Its been this way since my diet break. Before the break I was down to 177 pounds, eating clean and feeling good about the diet. Somehow the 10-day diet break or should I say 10-day feasting has totally blown off any momentum I gathered for the first phase of my diet, where I lost more than 7 pounds. Now it should be easier for me to diet since I’m supposed to be used to “dieting”. However things seem to be upside down. I frequently drink the occasional soda and I want to eat a cookie every meal, Plus work has been extra troublesome and I haven’t been getting too much sleep. Its normal for me to sleep between 4 to 5am trying to catch up on work.

The result? What should be an easy stroll to get down 180 has turned out to be a long term battle for me. And a battle that I’m losing at the moment. Many many times during the past week I always expect to be below 180. But when I most expect it I actually weigh heavier! Sometimes I just want to throw the scale out of the window.

Is it my fault? Definitely, recently I just can’t resist a cookie every now and then. Believe it or not one “satisfied craving” leads to a greater craving. Perhaps its really because I’m having trouble at work now. But should it affect my diet plans? This should be easy as I first thought when I started dieting. At that time I actually just couldn’t stop losing weight! But then looking back at the posts I made I was eating cleaner, exercising more and even doing cardio. Also work was a lot more normal too. Perhaps this diet thing is a reflection of all my life. Maybe you don’t get better one thing at a time, but instead be better with all aspects of your life at the same time. Perhaps. Perhaps.

  1. Hi Mark:

    I noticed you’re only doing a few and sometimes one kind of exercise when working out. Have you tried doing different exercises with fewer sets that way you’re muscles can get a full range of motion?

    I usually have more than 3 kinds of exercise per muscle group and I do 3 sets per exercise. But lately I noticed my weight has gone up by 2kgs – now at 68kgs, must be muscle mass already … hehehe :P

    I’ve done what you suggested today ( day 53 ). I can honestly say that its a lot more stressful on the muscle if it is hit from different angles on the same workout session. It also allows me to up my weight by two times with the reduced volume.

    Congrats on your hard earned muscle mass! I hope I get to your 68kg weight too! I am around 80 kg right now!
